JANUARY Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

This one isn’t so much of a tradition for you as it is for us.

While January has already come and gone, we offer a great discount on birthday party packages during the first month of every year.  If you’re thinking about getting a jump start on birthday party planning for your little ones, you can book for any time of the year and receive $50 off during the month of January.

Our birthday party packages take the stress out of planning kids’ parties. We provide the food, fun, and space, along with a dedicated party host to help you with all your set-up needs. Each package includes at least one attraction, 20 game credits per guest, two pizzas, unlimited sodas, online invitations, RSVP’s and thank you cards, as well as a birthday gift for the guest of honor.  There are all-inclusive packages available that will cover more than one attraction if you’re interested, just depends on your kids. February traditions are full of hearts and Presidents!

This year we’re trying out our ULTIMATE Date Night package for Valentine’s Day. It’s a great opportunity for a lowkey but high-energy night out with your loved ones. MARCH Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

 It’s Spring Break! Parents everywhere are in search of something, anything, to do with their kids this week. Luckily for you, we always have something planned. This year you can take advantage of our Spring Break Early Bird Special. Get two hours of unlimited attractions with 20 game credits for the arcade for just $14.99 when purchased between 10 am-noon. If you have kids under the age of five then you know how imperative it is to get all those wiggles out before naptime, and this can help burn out all that energy.

APRIL Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

Ah, Springtime. The smell of sunshine is in the air and the Easter Bunny is in town!

One of the greatest family fun center traditions is our annual Easter Bunny Breakfast and Egg Hunt. Bring the kids in for breakfast and a meet and greet with the Easter Bunny himself! There’s plenty of time for a photo op with the big guy before the Egg hunt, and we make sure that each child gets an egg to start. You can also add on two attractions and a $5 game card for $8.99 more if you’d like to stick around a play after breakfast!

MAY Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

May is full of family fun traditions like Teacher Appreciation Weekend, National Mini Golf Day, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day Weekend!

 With the promise of summer break right around the corner, there’s a lot to choose from in May at the Family Fun Center in Lakeland. We show our appreciation to the teachers with a Buy One, Get One attraction at the beginning of the month with proof of ID, and then extend that appreciation to the rest of the public for Memorial Day Weekend! In between those two weekends, we celebrate our ALL-TIME FAVORITE DAY, National Mini Golf Day with $2.50 rounds of mini golf all day! Mother’s Day is the next day, so all the mamas out there can enjoy a free game of mini golf with us.

JUNE Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

Summer is FINALLY here and it’s all about spending time with your bestie for Best Friend’s Day, or with your Rad Dad for Father’s Day at the Lakeland Family Fun Center!

Who doesn’t love a buy one, get one special? You and your best friend can spend the day together on a budget and go halfsies on a round of golf! Best Friend’s Day is the first week of June, followed by Father’s Day. Dad golfs for free on June 18^th so it’s basically BOGO if you intend to join him. This could be a good way to bond with your bestie or with dad, or BOTH. It’s a great annual tradition no matter who you are or who you’re with!

JULY Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

In the heat of summer, staying in the AC is all you want in Florida. Thank goodness for indoor playgrounds, arcades, and laser tag at the Family Fun Center!

During the first week, we have the 4th of July and military appreciation weekend. Guests in attendance can enjoy $4 attractions when you buy online, and active and retired military can enjoy a game of mini golf on us! It’s a win, win. Check out all our different attractions here.

Another great freebie opportunity at the Lakeland Family Fun Center, which also doubles as an AMAZING charitable event is our Christmas in July tradition! The weekend of July 22-23, donate a new, unwrapped toy and get a free attraction! All gift donations benefit kids in need and the Salvation Army. It’s a great way to give back to the community while having fun before school starts up again.

AUGUST Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

August already?! Gosh, time flies when you’re having fun.

With the start of the new school year right around the corner, the summer vibes slow, and we begin to turn our focus toward back-to-school needs. Que the Lakeland Family Fun Center’s Back to School Photo Contest! It’s simple. Share a photo of your little ones on their first day of school on our Facebook  page for a chance to win some FREE FAMILY FUN! SEPTEMBER Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

Labor Day Weekend marks the close of summer… well for most, but not in Florida! We have a solid six more weeks of sunshine.

Our Labor Day Weekend tradition re-introduces BOGO mini golf! It’s a great way to get outside with family and friends before the cold of winter comes (well, barely cold). Another family fun tradition to consider in September is Frontline Appreciation Weekend following Labor Day Weekend.

Frontline Appreciation extends to our teachers, first responders, healthcare workers, grocery and pharmacy workers, as well as the restaurant industries. Those that come in can enjoy a free round of mini golf or laser tag! It’s a pretty all-inclusive tradition we started back in the COVID days, but it’s been such a great way to give back to the community that we kept it going.  Working in any of these fields? Add it to your reminders, it’s always a fun time!

OCTOBER Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

We don’t know about you, but the SPOOKY season is our favorite season! Before we get into the spooky stuff though, it’s worth mentioning our Games for Good Grades outreach to award all the hard work our kids do at school. Bring in your children’s report cards to exchange for fun card credits during the month of October!

Now for the hauntingly thrilling family fun!  Every year we host a family-friendly Halloween Party, usually the weekend before Halloween. The kids can get dressed up (and parents, if you so choose) in their favorite costumes and enjoy trick-or-treating around the facility, our Funtasia indoor playground or a round of mini golf, as well as a $5 game card for our arcade! For those looking to take the scares up a notch, we’re trying out a new attraction this spooky season, Haunted Laser Tag!

Get your scare on while navigating our 2200-square-foot spooktacular laser tag arena complete with scary-fun decorations, and a chance to frighten all your close friends and family while you dominate Laser tag. The haunted laser tag arena will be available through the entire month of October. Pricing will remain separate from the Halloween Party package.

NOVEMBER Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

November is for the Veteran and the crazy shopping holidays that follow Thanksgiving – Black Friday, and Cyber Monday!

While our Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals are TOP SECRET at this time, we can at least help you plan your Veteran’s Day weekend shenanigans. In honor of our military Veterans and their families, as well as those just looking for a way to enjoy the three-day weekend, we keep family fun activities as our top priority. We offer one hour of UNLIMITED attractions and 20 arcade game card credits for one flat rate throughout the three-day weekend. It’s a must if you’re looking to keep the family entertained, and a great option for any time of the day.

DECEMBER Lakeland Family Fun Traditions

December is among the most stressful and event-packed months of the entire year! But that doesn’t mean you should skip out on our Family Fun Traditions. Think of the kids!

Breakfast with Santa and Friends is one of our most anticipated traditions of the year. Our “special guests” vary depending on Santa, but typically include one or more of our favorite princesses. Bring the children in for Breakfast with Santa and friends for a chance to meet the big guy himself for a meet-n-greet followed by unlimited attractions for the duration of the event! RSVPs are essential. Spots fill up quickly so make sure you snag your seats as soon as you can!

What better way to close out a year of Lakeland Family Fun traditions than a kid-friendly Noon Year’s Eve Party complete with Balloon Drop at Noon! Most kids under ten won’t last until Midnight to ring in the new year, so this event allows them to participate in the celebration with a ball drop of their own. The party kicks off at 9AM on New Year’s Eve with unlimited attractions, a $10 arcade card, face painting, a photo booth, and more! Tickets can be purchased online starting in December.

The holiday season is officially here. Not feeling very jolly this year? You’re not alone.  The holiday season brings tides of good cheer along with an overwhelming number of tree lightings, dinner invites, holiday programs, and Christmas events to attend. Four weeks is not nearly enough time to fit them all in, is it?

Well, that is up to you. Add the kids to the mix and it seems impossible, but it doesn’t have to feel that way. Slow down, breathe, and let the family help! Keep reading for ways to help you manage your holiday stress this year.

Keep it Simple

Bring the holiday cheer into the home, instead of going out. There’s plenty that can be done right at home, from decorating and holiday movies to hot cocoa and cookie baking! You and the family could hang the Christmas lights together, too. Give the kids a measuring tape and have them figure out where the lights are going and how many strands they need. Or skip hanging lights, and just drive around town to admire other houses!

The holidays don’t have to be a whirlwind of back-to-back events every year.

Simplify your plans. Look at your community events calendar and see what really works for you and your family’s schedule. Pick ONE event per week. It’s okay if you miss a few things and just stay home this year. When you have multiple kids, eliminating travel from your plans can cut your stress in half.

Skip Hosting

The holidays are stressful enough without adding your own events to the agenda. Take a pass this year.

Get the family together BEFORE the holidays and piggyback off an event already happening. No house and meal prep, no stressing over guests, just skip it. We can help.

Our annual Breakfast with Santa and Friends not only takes the stress out of planning a holiday outing but also gives the kids something fun to do while meeting SANTA! Three birds, one stone if you ask us. Breakfast, fun family activities, and pictures with Santa.

Breakfast with Santa and his special guest will be at the Family Fun Center for a meet-n-greet on December 17^th. Less is More

Don’t stress about Christmas shopping this year. Gift cards, gift cards, gift cards. Especially if you have older kids or teenagers. Personally, hate giving them, but love receiving them. Think about that…

Kids and adults alike prefer gift cards over presents because it gives them the freedom to choose. It shows that you appreciate them and want to gift them with something they will like, want, and use.

The season of giving is upon us! November is a reminder to express gratitude and thankfulness to friends, family, and all the influential and important people who make a difference in our lives, but how do you teach such complex concepts to kids?

Through day-to-day action and practice!

Keep reading for ways to highlight gratitude and thankfulness through activities this Thanksgiving season:

Talk about it

Modeling gratitude out loud is simple. Just take a moment and outwardly appreciate things. Like, “I’m so glad we have this fluffy coat to keep us warm today,” or “your big smile makes me so happy.” Take a gratitude walk and talk about things you’re grateful for like, the sound of the wind blowing through the trees, the beautiful colors of the leaves changing, your friendly neighbors, and cars to drive.

It’s important to highlight the positive things we appreciate to help our kids take notice. Say things out loud and get them thinking. Ask how those things make them feel, and what they can do to express their appreciation.

Use visual effects

Not only should you talk about the things you’re grateful for but read, draw, and write about them too! Reading is the best way to teach children about core values and morals. They also provide a visual aid that can help some kids understand and relate to things more easily. Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree is a touching interpretation of the gift of giving, friendship, and gratitude.

Another great visual aid for teaching gratitude and thankfulness is creating a gratitude jar or tree. Each day of November, have everyone write down one thing they’re thankful for and put it in a jar. If you have younger children, you can get crafty and make a tree by writing your gratitude notes on paper leaves and creating a Thankful tree on an empty wall. Once the notes begin to pile up, you get a powerful image of all the wonderful things to be grateful for, and it’s a great way for the whole family to reflect on what’s important to one another.

Donate with your kids

Help your kids go through their things and set aside items that could make another kid or family who is less fortunate, happy. Donating out-grown items such as toys and clothes, or even your time to volunteer somewhere is a great way to inspire empathy for others. Make sure to include the kids in every step of the donating process, from what you’re donating and why to where it’s going and who will benefit from it. This will help give your children a sense of togetherness.

Family Gratitude Night

Quality time with the whole family strengthens bonds and creates new memories for your kids to be thankful for, so plan a fun night out at the Family Fun Center and make gratitude the theme of the evening. There’s no shortage of activities to be grateful for at Family Fun Center. We have TONS of arcade games from old-school games to new-age, Adventure Golf, laser tag and so much more. Halloween around town:

This season offers so many great events and festivities around town, it can be hard to fit it all in! If you’re looking to plan a family-friendly weekend, there’s still time to make it out to the Harvest Holler Corn Maze. Located just outside of town, this real working farm has plenty of holiday fun to offer. Spend the day testing your navigation skills as you follow clues through the twist and turns of the maze, followed by barrel and hayrides, and a walk in the pumpkin patch. Looking for something a little scarier? Check out the Sun ‘n Fun Haunted Campgrounds Halloween weekend. Complete with haunted trails and camper-treating.  Or try something indoors, like the historic Wonder House. They have day AND nighttime Halloween tours packed with ghost stories, sweet treats, and a strange collection of personal oddities.

Halloween at home:

Are you making costumes of buying? Get spooky right at home with some eerie music and start planning out your family’s costumes and get a game plan together for Trick-or-Treating Halloween night. You can get cozy in the backyard with a bonfire and a s’mores board (think charcuterie board but with sweets) with different fixings, toppings, and flavors for a great Halloween-themed family night in. Add some scary movies in the mix, bake a pumpkin or apple pie, crave pumpkins, or get some yard work done! Raking fallen leaves into a giant pile just to JUMP into it is a memory your kids will remember for years to come.

Grab your broomsticks and creep it real at the Family Fun Center for Halloween weekend. Looking for a heart thumping thrill? Jump, crawl, duck and dive your way through lasers in our Vault Assault Maze. Ah, FALL. The Florida weather doesn’t always put those FALL vibes out but it’s undoubtedly in the air. School’s in full swing, the Halloween decorations are out in stores, and everything PUMPKIN has already begun creeping its way into our favorite coffee shops around town. Florida may not have the breezy, cooler forecast yet, but there are plenty of things we can do with the family to stay festive this season. Here are four tips to keep the kids busy this fall:

Get Crafty!

Nothing says FALL like arts and crafts! First, what is your family’s vibe? Is it spooky, dark shades of Halloween decor or earthy hues of reds, browns, and oranges to last the whole season through Thanksgiving? Once you decide, get crafting. Start off with a classic pumpkin craving night, or pumpkin painting if you want them to last the whole season. Finding newly fallen leaves and pressing them is another great place to start. Check out some of these kid-friendly FALL DIY projects to try out at home. Store-bought decorations are fine too, so long as you’re including the kids!

Get Spooky!

We know fall is more than just Halloween, but it’s one of the main things kids LOVE to get involved in. Center your October family nights around spooky activities. Like a Hocus Pocus movie night! It’s a classic, tried, and true, great for all ages, Halloween movie you just can’t pass on. If you have a backyard big enough to host a bonfire, tell some ghost stories while roasting marshmallows! We found some good stories that won’t keep the kids up all night. Feeling creative? Turn your garage, living room, or whole home into a haunted house! Or visit a haunted attraction near you.

Get Outside!

The weather may not be as “cool” as we’d hope here in Florida, but it’s not unbearably hot anymore so take advantage of that and get outside! Take the kids for a hike at a nearby park. Notice the falling and changing leaves, really breathe it in! Not one for nature? That’s okay. There’s always a pumpkin patch or corn maze with hayrides to visit around this time. Scavenger Hunt Supply Lists

Back to school shopping doesn’t have to be a bore! Turn your kid’s shopping list into a scavenger hunt around Target by adding fun clues and see who completes the list first. And don’t forget to stock up the fridge too. Have your kids pick out their favorite lunch snacks! It’s hard to be sad about school when you know you’ll have all the lunchtime goodies.

Game Night Academics

It’s important to get our kid’s brains back into learning mode, but academic learning doesn’t have to be forced. A game night is a great way to get them engaged in puzzles, brainteasers, critical thinking and strategy planning without them even knowing. Add a game or two into your nightly routine to help prep those young minds.

Last Week of Summer “Routine”

Routines can be difficult to start again after a care-free summer schedule, so turning early mornings into something fun can be a great way to kickstart that back-to-school routine without the fight. Plan fun morning activities the week before school starts. Catch the sunrise, beat the summer heat with an early hike/walk, get up and go to the beach, do some stretches, or teach the kids to cook breakfast. Whatever it may be, make them feel like it’s the BEST of the last week of summer.

Rediscover your Home

We always forget what our homes have to offer when we’re always on the go. Summer is the perfect time to focus on where we spend most of our free time, in our homes! Take a walk around your neighborhood and get reacquainted with the things and people around you. Have a family picnic or camp out in your backyard. Catch up on that show everyone’s talking about. Have a closet or garage that needs reorganizing? No one said you couldn’t be productive this summer.

Learn Something New

If you do have the urge to be productive this summer, try out something new! Maybe plant that garden you’ve always wanted or test out your cooking skills with a new recipe. Take a fitness class you’ve never done before like yoga or kickboxing, or both! Reading a new book is always a good way to learn too. Reading can also lead you to a newfound interest or hobby!

Tour your Own Town

Be a tourist in your hometown! Explore your city’s landmark. How many times have you driven by that historic statue in your local park and never noticed the plaque underneath it? Visit your local museum and learn about your city’s history. Check your local sites for events being held nearby. There’s probably a farmer’s market full of local, community goods and produce. 

Miniature golf is something a lot of people think of doing when on vacation.  But did you know that there’s an 18-hole miniature golf course in Lakeland? It is fun for all ages and a great date-night activity, too, and it is located at our favorite fun spot, Family Fun Center!

Channel your Inner Child

Dust off those board games in the back of your closet and start a game night for family and friends to enjoy. Remember that jungle gym you saw while exploring your local parks?
